CeBIT 2010: Off into the cloud with GROUP Live and IBM

Frankfurt / Hannover, 23 February 2010 - With their new cloud computing platform for dynamic delivery, management and monitoring of Lotus Domino application environments, GROUP Live has made it more than easy for companies to set up a public cloud. With the technical infrastructure and hosting provided by IBM, the resulting package is a comprehensive and unprecedented "Platform-as-a-Service" (PaaS) solution that will be showcased for the first time at this year's CeBIT in Hannover (Hall 2, Stand B20).

With GROUP Live, the GROUP Business Software division for cloud computing and PaaS is offering an automated and easy-to-administrate PaaS solution specifically designed for independent software vendors (ISVs) and companies that allows them to access state-of-the-art infrastructures and make their software SaaS-capable without major initial investment. As a result, the companies can use GROUP Live to deliver application environments to their own customers and employees - the first step for a successful entry into the SaaS market. "The big advantage is that GROUP Live greatly simplifies access to cloud technology for ISVs and other companies. With GROUP Live, complicated software installations, time-consuming adjustments and expensive hardware investments are something of the past", says Constanze Zarth, Managing Director Europe et GROUP Live, commenting on the unique design of the GROUP Live platform.

The innovative PaaS system, which has won the IBM Chief Technology Officer Innovation Award at Lotusphere 2010 in January, features high economic efficiency combined with outstanding ease of use. Thus, the platform is particularly interesting for SMEs, as it provides small software manufacturers, for instance, with a means to quickly and effectively open up new customer segments through the "SaaS channel".

Many companies also want to benefit from cloud computing internally, for instance to save licenses or achieve higher flexibility and a shorter roll-out time for new applications. With the Corporate Cloud, GROUP Live also provides an appropriate solution designed for this purpose. With both operation and management fully integrated "in the cloud" into the existing infrastructure, the solution ensures the highest level of flexibility for the delivery of application. At CeBIT 2010, the world's largest fair for information and communication technologies, GROUP Live plans to build on the momentum of their successful road show recently held in cooperation with the IBM Partnership Solution Centers. This road show already provided visitors with interesting insights into the realm of cost-efficient cloud computing. At CeBIT, the GROUP Live platform will be showcased at the GROUP Business Software stand (Hall 2, Stand B20) as well as in the "Smarter Work" area at the IBM stand (Hall 2, Stand A10, Workplace 22).
