GROUP Live Platform-as-a-Service wins INNOVATIONSPREIS-IT 2010 Award
Hannover / Frankfurt, 9 March, 2010 - GROUP Live wins an award for their cloud computing platform specifically designed for small and medium businesses. After having won the IBM Chief Technology Officer Innovation Award earlier this year in January, the company's new cloud computing platform for dynamic delivery, management and monitoring of application environments was awarded another prize at CeBIT last week. Awarded every year by the German "Initiative Mittelstand", the INNOVATIONSPREIS-IT award honors the best solutions in 35 different product categories. The jury, composed of 80 professors, scholars, industry/IT experts as well as specialized journalists, evaluate the candidate products according to their innovative character, practical relevance and suitability for small and medium businesses. This year, more than 2,000 companies had applied for this highly coveted award - which stands under the aegis of the Fraunhofer ICT Group - and submitted their solutions to the jury.
In the "Cloud Computing" category, GROUP Live managed to prevail against numerous competing solutions. The award was presented at a ceremony with hundreds of guests from the fields of politics, business and IT, held at the NORD/LB forum at CeBIT in Hannover. "This recent award from Initiative Mittelstand again reflects the innovative character, uniqueness and practical suitability of our new cloud computing platform, which is particularly beneficial for small and medium businesses", said Constanze Zarth, Managing Director at GROUP Live.
With Platform-as-a-Service, the GROUP Business Software division for cloud computing offers an automated and easy-to-administrate cloud computing solution. According to Andreas Richter, Director International Marketing at GROUP Live, "the cloud platform is specifically designed to meet the needs of independent software vendors and other small and medium-sized enterprises, and as such it provides a quick and cost-efficient entry into the SaaS market. Therefore, we are very happy that our offer has been recognized and appreciated through the innovation award". With no major investment required at the outset, companies now are in a position to access a state-of-the-art high-availability infrastructure in the IBM data center and offer their software on a SaaS-basis. As a result, the companies can use GROUP Live to deliver application environments to their own customers and employees in a most flexible way.
